Oh. hellllo! If you're here, it's probably because you know me from my very-recently-departed haunt, Shoot! The Blog.
I'm going to be blogging here now. Because it's my own site, I can be even more controversial (!) than before. Also I will say mean (though accurate) things about Sarah Palin's world takeover. I hope you're ready.
For now, I will mope just a little bit (getting pink-slipped is no fun.)
But I promise to be back here tomorrow and the day after, with all the good stuff. I mean, you need to know about this lens, right? Also, I was going to send you today to see Mr. Meyerowitz's After 911 work, so you should still take a look.
Meanwhile, I'll be checking out the classifieds.

And staring into the light.
Keep reading, folks, it's bound to get fun. Also-- please send me name ideas for this blog. It's rather sad without one.
A good beginning. More, please.
Possible names: Off-Shoot! The Blog
Hulin-hoop, the blog
Pinkslips and Overexposures
I'm glad that you're setting up another blog and have definitely added it to my feed reader.
I hope they gave you more of a warning than they gave all of us photographers!
Glad you're continuing the blog here.
Heh, "Off-Shoot! The Blog", that's cute.
Thank you for not giving up!
Your blog is the best out there. Figure out how to make it profitable and stay with us forever, please.
Best luck!
Rachel, I just want to say thanks for all the stuffed pillows and peanuts over at Photoshelter… I loved your blog, ever bit of it, and I wish you all the best with your continuing efforts. I am sure you'll draw a huge audience with your unique mix of insightful bits, great subject matter and personality.
Again, thanks, your work was appreciated.
Hey, Rachel, now I have to change my syllabus! (Old blog is on it under Totally Cool Links, or something along those lines.)
Good luck with the new blog and the new life. Love your passion for photography and admire your taste.
Well ... sad, and happy - gone from there, but set up here. Best wishes!
Well at least now I can comment on your blog! Love you rachel so glad you are going to continue to blog.
ahhh sigh.
Good luck! Looking forward to the new blog!
Now, you can be frank!
Hi Rachel,
I'm sorry to hear you lost your job. I can honestly say your blog was the best thing about the PhotoShelter Collection! I won't be missing PSC, but I would be missing your blog. So I am glad you are setting up home here.
As for names, all I can think of is "Oh, Shoot!"
Let's kick this off with a contest for a custom-made SomeECard. This time, you wont have to take it down!

Good luck with the new blog.
Don't ever leave me again Rachel. I'd miss you too much.
Hey Rachel, sorry to hear about PSC & the end of Shoot - but glad you're going to continue writing in some form, the old blog had reached the 'daily read' status in my morning web-trawl!
I'm thinking something like 'Shoot-out' to start with, but then again, in the long term you want to go off in your own direction rather than this blog being forever linked to the one before it, right? So clean slate time. (How about that - 'Clean Slate'?)
Good luck - naming can be the hardest part...

That nearly gave me a heart attack – I'd grown so attached to Shoot The Blog. So glad you're continuing on your own.
Condolences for the lay off, well wishes forthe job hunt, and gratitude for sticking with us and brightening our days.
Good luck Rachel. You were prolific at Photoshelter. It's never fun to get pink slipped. A feeling that I know all too well from the ad industry... Yuck.
I was a regular reader of the other blog and followed here. It was one of the best photoblogs. I can only imagine amount of time and energy it must have taken, because the posts were plentiful and there was always at least one worth forwarding to friends each day. Hope to see it continue here, good luck :)
Thanks for keeping up the blogging, and good luck!
I've reserved my comments for my blog cuz, well, cuz that's how roll. But I thought I'd comment here just to say that I commented elsewhere. That's also how I roll.
Rats! I had just started to contribute at your old workplace. Was setting up a little stock shoot in a couple of weeks when BAM!, they're closing.
Now I'm cruising the blogs to console myself.
Anyway I'll tag along with you here as we try and figure out how to stay ahead of this changing business and somehow manage to make money at it.
i'm stoked to hear you're still going to pumping this out. thank you!
And like a moron, i mistyped my blog address in my already posted comment. D'oh!@
Sorry to hear about being pinked, but glad to hear you're starting up here.
I'm glad to be here.
I'm so glad you are doing this! Good luck with the job hunt - I hope you find your perfect place right way
I've greatly appreciated your blog and have found it consistently inspiring, educational, informative and a welcome distraction from work. I've raved about it and passed it along to everyone interested in photography. I look forward to your next venture and future posts which I'm sure will be successful. How about "Photography in Focus."
Sorry to hear about the news of the day, and the pink. I have enjoyed your blog and it was one of those at the top of my list in my reader. I look forward to seeing your blog continue here/
Thank you, thank you so much for keeping the blog!!!
Yours is the best photography blog around, inspiring and so on, and so on...you already know it!!!
Keep it up!!!
Thanks!!!!
p.s.
Thank you again.
It's a real bummer that you go pink-slipped, still as they say, one door closes another door opens, look forward to reading the real Rachel without any constraints. Good luck.... :-)

Fired ... UP!
Yeah, I like the names suggestions, but I'm most happy you're gonna keep blogging and I've added your new addy to my links!
Just wanted to add another "heads-up-and-keep-your-style" comment! (I presume every positive feedback gives motivation in such a situation...)
I'm really looking forward to follow your new blog!
YAY! i can finally just comment instead of sending you non-stop emails to tell you how much i love this or that.
So glad you are continuing the blog! I understand the moping, but remember, everything happens for a reason...
I didnt know your previous blog but this one looks quite promising. Best wishes from France.

I don't care what you name it as long as you don't leave me. I almost had a heart attack when I did my morning click onto that OTHER blog. Then there was the link that brought me here. Phew. Good luck, lady.
best of luck on your new blog.....
…good luck here ! nice place. It's gonna be wild (so I hope)!
Hey I'm sorry to hear you lost your job and the death of the Shoot Blog, I was an addict. I'm excited about this new one though, keep up the great work!
Ok this is a record for comments right? I mean much more than on Shoot! Now you can go after Palin all the way right?
Rachel,
I'm sorry to hear about your job. Don't worry, you are talented and have made a name for yourself, I'm sure something will come along right quick.
As far as the name goes, it might be a bit too deadpan for you, but I happen to like "A Photography Blog."
Good luck with the new blog Rachel, I look forward to reading your thoughts "off the leash" as it were :)
That's a good name that will definitely rank in search engines well for the term photography blog...
btw aphotographyblog.com was available so I registered it, if you want it Rachel let me know

So THAT'S why the someecards post went missing! I had to hunting through my bloglines feed to find it, and forwarded those card along to everyone I know. Can't wait to see this blog grow some wings and leave the cage.
I don't usually speak in metaphors.
[As Yet Unnamed] is a catchy title. Keep it around as long as you need.
Hey Rachel, sorry to hear about the unfortunate news, but also glad to see youre still around :) Great success with the new blog.
Nice to see you get up and running as quick as you did. Looking forward to your new blog, as i always enjoyed the last one.

So glad this is up!
I'm glad you are keeping it going.... I've already got you in my RSS reader.....
Rachel,
Finally, I found yee again. Thanks to Chase for the link. First, my apologies for the pink slip. Keep your chin up. My wife got one not to long ago and she was back to work in 3 weeks.
Second, I feel relieved. I found your "home" again after you moved. I was afraid I lost you. Keep on blogging and I will keep on reading.

Finally got down to your first post just now after going through the rest of your weekend update. :) Sorry to hear the pink slip reason for leaving. Very much glad you are going to continue to post and in your own uncensored words. Keep up the great work! Not sure on the pronounciation of your last name, but how bout the "hulinthewall blog" as a title? :)
Nice to see you will continue the blog...
I am disappointed that PS closed the collection, but to tell you the truth,
one of the things I would have missed the most was your blog!
I am equally obsessed with Palin and look forward to hearing you comments!
Rock on.
Unnamed blog? That's wrong, I named your blog "Rachel Hulin - A Photography Blog" in my Feedreader. :-)
Delighted to have found you again, I do so enjoy your writing: inspirational and thought-provoking. And I love the name "a photography blog".
Best wishes from Tokyo.

Hi --
I dunno what happened, but I came to your first post just minutes after it was up -- and somewhere I think I made name suggestions -- but can't remember where -- or how. Sigh.

Now that I've read all your bloggings since then, I think either names still capture the mood.
Anyway, == thanks for being alive after the sinking.
