There NEEDS to be official exposure of this sort of fraud going on - people might believe an anonymous "scare" flyer, but they also hopefully read the paper or watch the TV news.

What's rather sad is the amount of underhanded tactics being used. What's even sadder is that average people might start to believe them.

This is defamation!Premeditated, calculated and organised defamation. But it won't work. Negative produces negative. Look at the McCain campaign, it's largely due to it's negativity that it has lost favour. The people that believe this deserve the government they get :D

A vote for Obama is a vote for stability and peace. Anyone who is dumb enough to believe that this cheap, homemade, badly photo shopped, black and white, 8-1/2" x 11" poorly Kinko's photocopied piece of paper is from the Real Obama campaign (that usually send out glossy, color, well designed card stock fliers)probably wasn't going to vote for him in the first place.

The authorities should be looking into who this group is and arresting them for fraud.

If you look at his fake birth certificate on stopthesmears.com, it says Barrak Hussein Obama II. It is going to come out that he is an illegal alien.

Leaving this in a mailbox is actually a Federal crime. Mailboxes are reserved for.. the mail.

II Who is the official that says you can't be a II? My son is a II. Poor child. But it is better than being a Jr. My father was a Jr. And relatives called him Junior until he died at age 62.

The approved and sponsored by at the bottom of the letter is incorrect language, but I would not expect the average citizen to know that.

No. Try to imagine someone taking the time and effort to fake a piece of paper with writing on it in photoshop. It's a ludicrous exercise. If you're bound and determined to believe it's fake, just tell yourself that someone wrote it themselves, printed it out, and then took a picture of it. It's a much more believable scenario, and would support your suspicions without a lot of logical conflicts. I also applaud the multiple levels you create with that idea. Someone on the left fakes a letter by the right that's trying to convince people on the left that they're also on the left and batshit crazy. Somehow it makes it even more interesting.

I think if these fake flyers actually convince a significant proportion of voters, then Americans have problems that no President, even the esteemed Obama, can fix...

When I take a broad look across the Internet at reactions to this type of racist, fear-mongering garbage, I am heartened by how many people -- with the exception of uninformed, uneducated, bigoted Bertha L. and her ilk -- are rejecting this kind of ugliness. It gives me tremendous hope for the future of this country, and when Obama wins, I will again be proud to be an American!

Fred, the fake registrations were fraud against ACORN, and no one else. Furthermore, ACORN indicated the fraudulent registration when they were submitted. I thought Boing Boing readers tended to be well informed.

I live in Wausau, and I know it is fake because Wausau is one of the whitest communities you will ever experience. Wausau will not be the epicenter of the new Blank Panther party.
